Texas Township facility that helps test potential medicines is drawing more life-sciences business here. A center that tests thousands of compounds to determine their potential as medicines is helping the Kalamazoo area become a bigger player in the life-sciences industry.
The 5,000 square foot Michigan High Throughput Screening Center, located in Kalamazoo Valley Community College's Michigan Technical Education Center (M-TEC) in Texas Township, now has tripled the number of regular client accounts it works with to six since its start last summer and has at least that many more seeking funding to have work done at the center. In the mix is also a major pharmaceutical company that the center may never be able to name, due to confidentiality rules.
